The
Institute for Next Generation
Internet
studies the convergence of computers, cell
phones, television (video), basically all forms of electronic
communication. How this convergence is impacting our lives
personally and in the business world is key to
understanding how
we are adapting to a rapidly changing world both culturally and
environmentally.
We are
particularly interested in the the Next Generation of the
Internet which will be based on support for IMS (Internet
Protocol Media Subsystem). IMS is a set of standards that
allows carriers to deliver seamless interoperability
between cell phones, fixed line telephones, computers, and
TVs. In addition, IMS provides as a readily integratable service
support for identity and private property management and its
adoption will make the Internet a much more secure place to do
business. The Next Generation Internet will include an
infrastructure for third party billing for content and services.
