Hellspawn’s new product, The Wired2fire, is easily one of the fastest machines in recent times, with clock speed of 3.8GHz. However, this PC’s specialty isn’t just raw processing power, there’s also plenty on offer for gamers: An over clocked ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics card; 850MHz core clock sitting at 930MHz, and the 975MHz GDDR5 memory now running at 1,100MHz.
The result is fantastic gaming performance. The game tested brilliantly in the most common resolutions. The rest of the specification is suitably high-powered, too, with 6GB of DDR3 RAM running at 1,333MHz, a 1TB Samsung Spinpoint hard disk boasting 32MB of buffer and a Blu-ray reader for HD movie playback.
Six empty SATA ports and five free internal 3.5in bays offer room for more storage, and a second PCI Express x16 slot could be used for a second graphics card. There’s a pair of 5.25in bays and a single DIMM slot free, a Blu-ray reader already and a 6GB of triple-channel RAM.
The monitor however, is a little weak: it suffers from a little backlight bleed, colors don’t look quite right and it has an over-glossy finish to the screen. But while better speakers and monitors are available elsewhere in more expensive packages, the Hellspawn still has plenty going for it.
At £79 (exc. VAT), it’s certainly more expensive than other top-of-the line devices like, but it offers more power, memory, storage, gaming grunt and peripherals that are just as capable.
It’s certainly a winning debut for Wired2Fire, and one that signifies a return for Hellfire to the pinnacle of processing power.
